Acoustica is Sydney’s answer to the nation’s Folk, Blues and Roots festivals Audiences travel to locations like the Blue Mountains, the Illawarra, Canberra and Byron Bay to attend festivals of this ilk, but in its 5th year of growth and development, Acoustica is an established festival right in the heart of Sydney’s music scene.
Acoustica allows the people of the Leichhardt municipality to see excellence in acoustic music, performed by the best of artists, both local and international. Bringing people of all ages together, the festival aims to create community bonds, encourage music and performing arts and celebrate inclusiveness.
Bring a picnic and a blanket and settle down for a wonderful day’s entertainment. If you prefer there will be a whole variety of great food to try at the concert, not to mention bar service available all day. Throughout the afternoon there are children’s rides and roving entertainers so bring the whole family for a day out. If you live in Balmain it is just a short stroll to Birchgrove Oval.
To celebrate 5 years of Acoustica, 5 days of free Acoustica Associate music events will take place in Balmain venues from Wednesday 15th April – Saturday 18th April 2009.
Acoustica Goes Green
Acoustica is working it's way towards becoming an environmentally friendly event. In 2009 the majority of power used will be from renewable resources such as solar power. Recycling will once again feature heavily as a responsible way to dispose of rubbish with vendors all using either recyclable or biodegradable products. Promotional materials have been printed on recycled, environmentally friendly materials and Acoustica enthusiastically encourages patrons to travel to the festival using sustainable transport, cycling or walking.
